National Cat Club Stud Books
The National Cat Club Stud Books were the very first stud books ever produced for the cat fancy, beginning in 1890 in England. The idea was initially
conceived when a dozen or so cat fanciers met at the Alexandra Palace cat show in 1887. The first president was Harrison Weir, succeeded by Louis Wain in 1890 - both extremely
prominent fanciers in those early years. Volume 1 began with cat number 1001, and the entries contain not only sire and dam listings, but any and all show awards
won by the cat. Between volumes 4 and 5, a re-organization took place, and numbering was started with entry 3000 - skipping from 2417 at the end of volume 4.
- Volume 1 ( July 31, 1890-December 1892, entries 1001-1185 )
- Volume 2 ( January 1893-March 1894, entries 1186-1656 )
- Volume 3 ( March 1894-March 1895, entries 1657-2053 )
- Volume 4 ( March 1895-March 1896, entries 2054-2417 )
- Volume 5 ( March 1896-1899, entries 3000-3388 )
- Volume 6-7 ( 1900-1905)
